About Me

Welcome to my history blog! My name is Catherine, and I am a Massachusetts native and school librarian who is passionate about sharing my knowledge and interests with the world. With my Masters in History and Masters in English, both from UMass Boston, as well as my MLIS from Simmons, I have a strong educational background that has allowed me to read quite a bit and work in a variety of historical fields.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working in museums, archives, historic sites, higher education institutions, and K-12 schools, which has given me a wealth of experience and knowledge to draw upon. Over on my other blog, shawcatreads, I discuss my thoughts on books, education, and modern libraries in general. Through this blog, I aim to share my insights and perspectives on Massachusetts and its history as well as the area's natural landscape and preservation areas. I hope to shed some light on lesser-known stories and anecdotes that have shaped my local community as well as the world.

I believe that history is more than just a collection of dates and facts. It is a living, breathing narrative that connects us to our past, present, and future. By exploring different perspectives and delving deeper into the stories that make up our world, I hope to inspire readers to think critically, question assumptions, and embrace the richness and diversity of human history. At the same time, I hope to instill an appreciation for our local histories and the things that make our communities unique and important.

Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with you through this blog!
